You may have noticed some short interruptions our podcast episodes that we call “Acting Out.” No, we are not misbehaving. Acting Out is the segment of our show when we look to the book of Acts in the Bible and find lessons from the early church. In this brief segment, we ask ourselves, If the 1st century church turned the world upside down then, what could the church today do equally well in the 21st century?
Since these episodes of Acting Out are very short, we have combined them into a series with five episodes in each download. We look forward to producing more episodes to include in our normal “Keep It Simple” podcast.
“Even the Worst Person Can Be Saved” from Acts 9.00:30
“Barnabas the Encourager” from Acts 9:20-31. 03:09
“Peace? Or Persecution?” from Acts 9:31. 05:42
“God Arranges an Unlikely Meetup” from Acts 10-11. 08:38
“The Church Being The Church” from Acts 11:19-30. 12:52

Today, Tom and Gavin critique a simple model of Discipleship called the “Three Thirds” method offered up by Curtis Sergeant of the Zume´ Project. Let’s discuss what it means for a small group or Simple Church to Look Back, Look Up and Look Forward.

Part three of three parts. In the book of Revelation, Jesus dictates seven letters to the seven churches in Asia during the time of the writing of the book. Gavin and Tom examine each of the letters to find common themes, exhortations, admonitions, and warnings for those churches and for the Church today. From these seven letters, we can get a composite vision of what Jesus expects from His Church, what He commends and what He condemns. What can the contemporary Simple Church learn from the seven letters in Revelation?
